Day 16, Sunday, May 27th: The Longest Sunday

Awake to a very sunny day! Our last wake up in Tokyo. While Lana is editing the blog, I am doing my suitcase packing. We finish our blog for yesterday and publish. It is going to be an incredibly long Sunday. Given we are 16 hours ahead of Vancouver time this means Sunday will be 40 hours long for us. We leave Tokyo around 17:00 on our direct flight and arrive at Vancouver YVR about 10:00 the same day. So we will have to deal with a good part of Sunday in Vancouver. Down to the breakfast buffet and there is a long line before 09:35 waiting to be seated. Another delicious breakfast and I take some salmon and two pieces of bread for the plane. We are back in our room by 10:30. We have organized an airport shuttle to Narita International Airport for 11:55 am departure. We check out and then provide our luggage to the bell hop. We decide to wait outside in the warm sun. Many dogs and dog owners outside with one owner pushing a dog stroller/buggy. We will be dropped off at South Terminal...

Day 15, Saturday, May 26th: Tokyo Hairy Day

Wow, this is our last full day in Tokyo. The time has just flown by as tomorrow (Sunday) will be our travel day back to Vancouver. We don't have a lot of plans for today. Lana has reserved a hair salon for a special Japanese head spa treatment at 10:00 and we want to do ramen and a authentic Japanese cuisine experience for dinner. Otherwise, pretty open to the day's activities. There will be two reasons we call this a 'hairy' day. Another awesome breakfast buffet and we are in a little bit of a rush as we will need to walk to the train station and then navigate our way to the hair salon located in the Ebisu neighbourhood. It is another beautiful day in Tokyo with morning overcast skies, but perfect temperatures for lots of walking. Sign outside Ebisu for a ramen place confirming open for 18 straight hours! Day 14, Friday, May 25th: Mount Fuji Musical Road!

We set our alarm for 07:00 as Naomi and Hikaru are picking us up at our hotel this morning at 08:15 and we want to get breakfast before we leave. Our friends have rented a car for our trip to Mount Fuji and surrounding area. Pretty exciting and will make up for our loss earlier in the trip of our rental car/poor weather. The title of our blog is Mount Fuji Music and it is true. You need to read further... Hikaru has created an itinerary! Naomi's iPad has access to the internet as her pad has a SIM card and they pay a monthly fee for data usage. We have so many good conversations about a wide range of topics. Naomi shared a Japanese saying... " older people, their knowledge is like a stone - very hard ." In other words, they are not keen to change their views. We asked whether the younger generation in Japan loves sumo and not really except for the young women. This is described as " sujo " = su for sumo and jo for young girls/women.
